Christmas Card

This was our Christmas card this year.  I had to tape my camera to the foot board of our bed to get the right angle. :o)  After setting the timer and dashing back and forth about ten times, I finally got the shot I wanted!  I'm happy to say it's just how I envisioned it.  Yay!!!!

Merry Christmas!!!!!1

Home For the Holidays

Mistletoe headband: DIY
Red Beads: Great Grandmother's
Christmas Tree Earrings: Gift from Sister
Cardigan: Thrifted
Green Top: Gift from Mom
Red Polka Dot Tank: Walmart
Skirt: Self Made (no pattern)
Petticoat: Self Made (no pattern)
Hue Tights: Macy's (clearance)
Heels: Dillards (clearance)

We got home about 10:30pm Saturday night and I said, "I think I have time to make a new Christmas skirt to wear to church in the morning."  By midnight I was done.  I have to confess that I cut a corner or two.  First, I skipped putting in pockets.  Second, I forgot to put the ball trim on the hem!  I plan on doing both of those things ASAP!!!

JJ

PS: I tried to show a little bit more of the petticoat for those curious about it.  I keep meaning to take detail shots, but always forget. Sorry!

Sapphire Butterfly set: Gifts from Hubby
Cardigan: Thrifted
Blouse: Gift from Sister-in-Law
Belt: Local
Skirt: Self Made (no pattern)

The countdown has begun on how long I can wear this skirt!  Hmm, I think I'll wear it grocery shopping tomorrow.  Yes, yes I will. :o)

My nails are all nice from going out on a date with Hubby the night before. :o)  I managed to keep them on three whole days before life demanded I get practical and remove them.  It was nice while they lasted.  Maybe I'll bust 'em out again for our New Year's party?

Hope everyone is having as much fun as we are during the holidays!

Ok, I seriously love this skirt!  It's like wearing a ballgown...in a wonderful weighty cotton!!!  I totally found myself swishing side to side on stage when I was singing at church. :o)

On the way home we rounded the corner and I saw all those leaves and just had to walk (swish) in them!!!

It Was a Happy Thanksgiving at the Farm

Leaf Crown: DIY
Red Beads: Great Grandmother's
Gold Hoops: Gift from Hubby
Watch: TJMaxx
Blouse: Self Made (New Look 6808)
Duck Cardigan: Thrifted
Jeans: Gift from Hubby
Loafers: Thrifted

It was a wonderful day spent at the family farm celebrating Thanksgiving with lots and lots of family, good food, and fun!

I made the teepee for my boys with the intention of letting the cousins paint designs on it.  The painting didn't happen...now we have something fun to do next rainy day. :o)

What did happen at the farm?  Tractor rides, horse rides, jumping on hay bales, a 500 piece puzzle was put together minus one piece (we think we lost it in the campfire), and lots of eating, drinking, and visiting around the fire.

The last photo is the view out back of the farm house.  A few years ago Grandpa placed the statue of Jesus looking across the fields.  Isn't it peaceful?  (The statue is taller than me, even without its platform.)

Still feeling Thankful,
JJ

Feeling Corny

Autumn Crown: DIY
Gold Hoop Earrings: Gift from Hubby
Necklace: Thrifted
Ceramic Watch: TJMaxx
Fox Tie Belt: Thrifted
Blouse: Self Made (New Look 6808)
Skirt: Self Made (from a tablecloth)
Yellow Tulle Skirt (worn under as a petticoat): Self Made
Vintage Heels: Thrifted

This is one of my top favorite outfits!  I am just tickled it came out exactly how I envisioned!

I should have taken a good closeup of the blouse's fabric (you can see a bit of it in the belt photo).  The print is Indian corn with metallic outlines.  I love Indian corn, the colors are just soooooo beautiful!!!  I bought the fabric intending to make a blouse to wear for Thanksgiving last year, but didn't know what pattern to use so it never got done.  Fast forward to this year when I finally knew which pattern would be perfect for it.  It has such a cute vintage look that is darling made up in novelty prints.  I plan on making more of these blouses for sure!  The pattern calls for a side zipper, but so many sewists blogged that they didn't need it.  I made a quick muslin for fit, sans zipper, and pulled it over my head.  Sure enough...it worked!  *Happy Dance* :o)  Another thing I got to skip was interfacing the collar.  The metallic printing on the cotton made it plenty stiff on its own.  Instead of doing the collar facings, I finished it with bias tape.  I ended up grading out to a size larger at the hips (the blouse is almost tunic length) and putting slits in the sides for when I wear it untucked with jeans.  Guess what I'm wearing on Thanksgiving. :o)

I've been wearing my leaf crown as much as possible...running errands, a day at the school, church, everywhere I can before Thanksgiving ends and Christmas takes over.

Grainy Photos

Gold Hoop Earrings: Gift from Hubby
Ceramic Watch: TJMaxx
Acorn Necklace: Gift from Mom
Deer Ring: Burke's Outlet
Vintage Dress: Thrifted
Hue Tights: Macy's (clearance)
Frye Boots: DSW (clearance)
Vintage Jacket: Thrifted

My photos turned out grainy. :o(  I'm posting anyways, because I LOVED this outfit!!!  I had to dig out the seldom worn full slip for this dress.  Whatever mystery fabric (polyester something or other) it's made of, it stuck like glue to my tights!  Most static cling I've EVER experienced. :o)

From straight on, a lot of people don't realize I'm wearing a hat.  They think it's part of a hairstyle. :o)  Either way, it's pretty cool!  I'm mean really...flowers made out of feathers...in Fall colors...What could be better???

So, we were in the middle of taking outfit photos when the door popped open.  Cutest.photo bomber.ever!!! :o)

Wearing My Hat Backwards

Hat, Tassel Necklace, Skirt, Belt, and Heels: Thrifted
Earrings and Butterfly Ring: Gifts from Hubby
Blouse, Watch, and Bracelet (gift from Mother-in-Law): TJMaxx
Crochet Jacket: Self Made

I haven't worn my crochet jacket in a while.  I made it to wear for Easter 2011 using crochet items (mostly doilies) made by our Grandmothers.  The Green flower is the only piece crocheted by me.  The two White flowers are made from my Grandfather's Christening Cap.

I thought this was a nice neutral outfit to pair with my new vintage hat.  I call it my Lady Pimp Hat. :o)  I just couldn't pass up that bright Green!  I am wearing it backwards, it looks better on me that way.  I always spin hats around when I try them on to see which way I like them best.

My little two year old wanted in on the photo shoot. :o)  When I asked him for a kiss, he put his arm up to kiss through...little stinker!  Then he wanted a photo of him by himself.  Maybe I should try some of his poses??? :o)

I guess it's only natural he wants to get in on the photos, he sees us taking photos all the time. :o)

Where's Waldo?

I haven't been on Pinterest in a while so I didn't realize "Where's Waldo" was going to be so popular this year!  I had the idea to do it last year, so imagine my surprise when I went to buy Red and White striped t-shirts for the guys and Could.Not.Find.Them!!!  I went to two different Targets to get the boys shirts and snagged the last one on the shelf at each.  Both shirts were Big Brother's size, so I had to size down one for the Little Guy.  I finally had to give up on finding one for Hubby and painted Red stripes on a Grey stripe shirt.  Grr, this was supposed to be a low key year for costumes!

The hats ended up being more involved than I had planned too!  I went to the Dollar store to pick up White stocking caps (for a dollar, duh) and they said, "Sorry, we don't have them yet, but we're getting them soon."  *Sigh* Not soon enough for my plans though.  I ended up getting 2 Red tees and 2 White tees to sew the caps out of.  Hubby had a White cap so I got off easy just "decorating" his. :o)

Thank goodness I already had my striped tee and cardigan!

Fancy Fish

Fish Earrings: Clare's
Top Orange Necklace: Gift from a Friend
Orange Spike Necklace and Yellow Bracelet: Burke's Outlet
Vintage Green Necklace: Flea Market
Ceramic Watch: TJMaxx
Antique Jelly Opal Ring: Gift from Hubby
Jacket: Gift from Sister-in-law

The same Sister-in-law that gifted me the blouse I wore last Sunday also gave me this super cute jacket.  Really.super.cute.jacket!!!

I was picking out all my jewelry and needed earrings to go with everything.  I was reaching for my "matching" Orange flowers when I spied my Orange fishies!  Yep, I couldn't resist pairing them with this otherwise normal outfit.  I like to think they're whimsical. :o)

Here's to wearing what makes us happy!
