Diane Freis Refashion

Ruby Ring and Earrings: Gifts from Hubby
Red Beads: Great Grandmother's
Yellow Beads: Burk's Outlet
Black Leather Belt: Commissioned from Local Leather Shop
Top: Spiegel Outlet
Skirt: Refashioned
Heels: Thrifted

I was in a Goodwill buying a blazer (it will eventually appear here, I'm sure), when I decided to glance through the dresses.  I shop with my hands.  I knew I had hit silk about the same time as my brain told me what my eyes were seeing.  The most wildly printed silk dress I had ever had the privilege of beholding!  I pondered a moment.  I put it back (crazy talk right?).  I walked two steps away then turned and lunged for it!

The reason for my hesitation?  It was $9!  That's big bucks when I'm thrifting. :o)  But it was silk!  And I couldn't stop starring at the craaaazy print!  I new I had to take it home and turn it into a skirt.

The skirt portion of the dress had a faux wrap piece going up across the front.  I just knew I could trim the under layer to go up too and end up with a lovely wrapped high-low hem.  It worked just as I thought it would.  *Fist pump in the air* YES! :o)

PS:  When I got home I thought the label looked designer-ish so I looked her up.  So um, some people are paying anywhere up to $200 for these dresses!  Hubby asked if I wanted to put her on Ebay.  I will admit I DID consider it (briefly), but the elastic was stretched out in the waist so it wouldn't get premium price anyways.  So I said nope, I gotta keep that fantastic, wild print! :o)  For anyone curious to see it in all its original glory...Ta-Dah!

Big Pockets, Rain or Shine

Umbrella: Vintage
Red Rose Earrings: Great Grandmother's
Tank Top: Sevenly
Skirt: Vintage, Thrifted
Crocs: Gift from Hubby

This is what I wore for a day of shopping for TWO birthday parties I was hosting TWO days apart!  Craziness! :o)  These pockets were a lifesaver!!!  I can fit a full sized notebook in there, no kidding.  I'm serious.  I had each party planned out with lists of ideas, lists of things to buy, to do lists, to make lists, etc.  The full size notebook was necessary.

I plan on posting about the parties soon. :o)

Earrings: Gift from a Friend
Multi-color beads and cord bracelet: Burk's Outlet
Orange blouse: JCPenny
Skirt: Vintage, Thrifted
Lime Sandals: Dillards (clearance)
Brahmin Purse: Gift from Hubby

This was Wednesday evening before church, after the first day of school.  I was soooooooo tired.  I decided to dress like Rainbow Brite to counteract my exhausted look. :o)  I really should have thrown on some lipstick, but hey, this is really me...and I didn't.  So there ya have it. :o)

All Tied Up

Tie (worn as headband): Borrowed from Hubby
Heart Earrings: Made by a Friend
Green Czech Glass Beads: Self Made
Silver Sweet Pea Ring: Gift from Mom
Glass Rings: Earthbound Trading Co.
Orange Dress: Khols (clearance)
Heels: Shoe Dept (clearance)

I had pulled my dress and heels out of the closet, when my gaze fell on Hubby's tie.  I just had to wear it somehow, it looked so good with my outfit!  I fiddled with it for a little bit, then figured out the perfect way to wrap it around my head, somewhat like wearing a scarf.  I used bobby pins and tucked the tail under the wrap to secure it behind my head instead of knotting it.  I didn't want to have a big awkward lump under my hair. :o)

PS:  Hubby must like my back view in this dress, he took pictures without me knowing it last time too.

1st Day of 1st Grade

Shirt: JCPenny
Shorts: Thrifted
Shoes: Academy (he changed the laces)
Rubber band Apple: DIY

Today is the 1st day of 1st grade at a new school!  Opie gets to go to Christian School this year.  We are beyond excited!!!

I wish I would've snapped a picture of his lunch this morning!  I am trying my hand at Bento lunches.  I tell ya, I was way more tempted to gobble up his lunch than when I just throw a sandwich and snack bags in his lunchbox!  I AM more than a little worried about spillage.  I guess if he comes home telling me his goldfish were swimming in his lime yogurt, I'll know to pack things more securely. :o)

I realized AFTER I went to bed that I hadn't put together the "Apple" for Opie's teacher!  I hopped out of bed and got it done in no time flat!

Well a tire needs replacing on the lawn mower, so until then I'm calling the high grass a feature, not an eyesore.  When life gives you high grass...bale hay?  Nope, take outfit photos!

VBS Style: Day 4

Orange Watch: Gift from Brother
Red Watch: Target
Black Leather Braid Bracelet: Colorado
Black multi-strand beads: Old
Elephant Top: Self Made (McCalls 6751)
Pants: Self Made (Vogue 8588)

Well I wore two watches again. :o)  Still haven't replaced the battery in the orange one either.  I made these pants two years ago and the top this summer.  They looked great together for our Circus Theme.  I did a handkerchief act today, so the huge pockets were perfect for pulling out a long strand of hankies.

VBS Style: Day 3

Yellow and Orange glass beads: DIY necklace worn as a bracelet
Orange Watch: Gift from Brother
Coin Watch: Gift from Hubby
Top: Target
Cami: Walmart
Yellow shorts: Dyed by me

Step right up folks, get your tickets!

So yes, I'm wearing two watches, but only one works.  The Orange one needs a new battery, but I really wanted to wear it so I just wore both. :o)  I must say, I enjoyed wearing multiple watches and plan to do it again, even after replacing the battery.

VBS Style: Day 1

Mask: DIY-ish
Tutu (with tail attached): DIY
Top: Thrifted
Capris: Borrowed from a Friend

Today was the first day of our VBS.  Our theme this year is "Big Time at the Big Top".  We made half of a circus tent for the stage.  This was after my performance as "The Amazing Trained Pink Poodle"!  The kids loved it, maybe even as much as I did! :o)
