Fresh Green

Czech Glass Necklace: DIY
WWII Trench Art Ring: Hubby's Grandfather's
Watch and Top: TJMaxx
Skirt: Refashioned from a Vintage Maxi Dress
Heels: Dillard's (clearance)

This may very well be the last time I wear those heels!  (I might have said that last time too) They are only comfortable for about an hour of standing.  For the first hour or so of church I am on my feet, by the time I stepped off stage my left foot was complaining.  The right one was fine.  Who knows?  The thing is, the heel is nice and sturdy making the height not a problem for walking.  I feel so fierce when I put them on...that is until I'm limping through the front door coming back home.

Enough of my shoe dilemma, check out Hubby's awesome new oxfords (brogues?)!  He walked up wearing them in DSW where I was trying on heels for my sister's wedding.  I said, "You ARE buying those!!!"  He tried to resist (doesn't like spending money on himself, but doesn't blink over spending even more on me), but I could tell he REALLY liked them.  It didn't take too much to talk him into getting them. :o)

PS:  I freshened up my Green bangs, too bad I forgot to freshen up my lipstick before taking pictures!

The Shelly

First things first, I didn't realize my collar necklace had shifted sideways until I got back inside to change out of my outfit!  I simply could not redo the photos, so big blooper #1.  (I'm saving another for the end.) :o)

This outfit was thanks to my super sweet friend, Shelly!  Two birthdays ago, she wrapped my present in the polka-dot fabric I used to sew my top.  Last Summer she thrifted the skirt for me.  Last week she bought the tiny hat for me.  She said it jumped out at her and said, "Buy me for JJ!"  I told her she needs to get me a pair of shoes next so I'll have a complete Shelly outfit. :o)

Items not compliments of Shelly are: Ring (DIY), Belt (Local), Vintage Collar Necklace (Antique Shop), and Heels (Marshall's)

Here's the promised 2nd blooper...a BIG swarm of bees flew overhead.  This is a mixture of "worry" and "what it that?" facial expressions. :o)

My Wedding Dress

This Sunday was our Wedding Anniversary.  We've been married a dozen years...we joked that the anniversary gift should be a dozen donuts. :o)

I decided to pull out my wedding dress and see if I could squeeze into it.  I just made it!  I designed my wedding dress and my Mom sewed it.  You see alllllll those dangly beads from the butterflies?  She hand strung and hand sewed them on!  She also hand sewed the lace around the entire hem and train AND added beads to it too!

I had a garden wedding that wasn't very fussy at all.  I ran around barefoot as soon as the minister pronounced us Man and Wife. :o)  Would I design the same dress if we were getting married today?  No, but it was perfect then!  The lace has all yellowed a bit, and there are some mystery stains here and there, but I still think it is beautiful.  I loved it as a Bride, but now that I see it through a sewist's eyes I see so much love in every stitch!  I remember how stressed my Mom was about it being perfect!  She really did a spectacular job!!!

Oh, and the Butterfly hair jewels were alllll over my hair on our wedding day...I only wore three for our anniversary. :o)

Easter Outfits

Hat: Flea Market
Blue Pearl Necklace: Gift from Grandmother
Gold Necklaces and Earrings: Gifts from Hubby
Vintage Dress: Thrifted and Refashioned
Wearing my Yellow Tutu skirt as a petticoat
Sandals: DSW (clearance)

It was my Sister-in-Law's turn this year to pick out the colors (see color palette) for our Easter outfits.  I had this vintage dress (complete with original sales tags still attached) hanging out in my refashion pile.  My original plan was to do something nautical to it.  Well, I'm happy that I needed to change plans, I really do love how it turned out.  I tossed the dress in the wash with three bottles of Kelly Green dye and it came out this Jade color.  I took in the bodice and those giant sleeves, those things went past my elbows!  I swapped the buttons for cute little sheep that I colored in with Sharpies.  I sewed them on when they were still White and they just jumped out and were distracting.  Once I colored them in I thought they were cute and complimentary. :o)

I bought the sandals last Fall when they were marked way, way down.  This was my first time to wear them.  I was so happy they went so well with my outfit since I hadn't taken them out of the box until the day before Easter to see if they'd work.  I didn't really have a backup shoe in mind either.  I live life on the edge sometimes. :o)

Butterflies

Butterfly Wing Earrings: Gift from Sister-in-Law
Necklaces and Bracelet: Burke's Outlet
Lego Watch: Gift from my Son
Dress: Dillard's (clearance)
Belt: Local Leather Shop
Butterfly Top: Thrifted

This top mostly gets worn with casual outfits, think ripped jean shorts.  I'm happy I hit on this flowy outfit to dress it up.  I almost felt like a butterfly myself...my earrings flit about, my sleeves floated, and my dress tried to blow over my head!  Not a safe outfit for a windy morning. :o)  Thankfully the wind had calmed down by the time church let out.
