I like vintage looks. I have a tacky gene that loves to mix prints. I have fun trying new things with my hair. I'm a bargain hunter and hardly ever buy an item full price. I love to sew, and feel pleased as punch when I wear something of my own design.

My Wedding Dress
This Sunday was our Wedding Anniversary. We've been married a dozen years...we joked that the anniversary gift should be a dozen donuts. :o)
I decided to pull out my wedding dress and see if I could squeeze into it. I just made it! I designed my wedding dress and my Mom sewed it. You see alllllll those dangly beads from the butterflies? She hand strung and hand sewed them on! She also hand sewed the lace around the entire hem and train AND added beads to it too!
I had a garden wedding that wasn't very fussy at all. I ran around barefoot as soon as the minister pronounced us Man and Wife. :o) Would I design the same dress if we were getting married today? No, but it was perfect then! The lace has all yellowed a bit, and there are some mystery stains here and there, but I still think it is beautiful. I loved it as a Bride, but now that I see it through a sewist's eyes I see so much love in every stitch! I remember how stressed my Mom was about it being perfect! She really did a spectacular job!!!
Oh, and the Butterfly hair jewels were alllll over my hair on our wedding day...I only wore three for our anniversary. :o)

Oh what a pretty dress....you'll have to show us a wedding pic. Lucky you still fitting into your dress. I'm at least 2 sizes bigger then I was, but that was 20 years ago! Happy anniversary to you & hubby. Xx
ReplyDeleteOh it was a tight squeeze getting that zipper up the last couple of inches! This is the first time I could get it on since baby #2. I haven't forgotten about getting a wedding picture on here...just haven't dug one up yet. They got buried in the move.
DeleteJJ! hi again!
ReplyDeleteI know I can't fit into my dress. (chemo puffed me up/out) I was so much littler then (15 yrs ago) But it is a great inspiration factor for me, so ....thank you!
Yours still fits. So sweet that your mom sewed it. ♥
