Rudolph

Cardigan: Thrifted
Blouse: Thrifted
Belt: Local
Skirt: Self Made
Frye Boots: DSW (clearance)
Petticoat: Self Made

I have been planning to make this Classic Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer skirt for three Christmases now, I finally did it! :o)  I have worn it as much as possible this month!!!

I wore it with a plain black long sleeve tee at my Mom's Christmas (with my leopard slippers instead of "real" shoes, hehe)

This was how I wore it to church one Sunday morning.  It was the day we had our Children's Church Christmas Play, so it seemed appropriate.

I also wore it to Opie's school play.

I am more than a bit sad to put it away for a year. :o(  I guess I'll just have to make another one out of the Charlie Brown "Let it Snow" fabric.  Yes, that'll cheer me up! :o)

Belt: Local
Petticoat: Self Made
Boots: DWS (clearance)

It looks like it snowed inside...the insulation was sprayed in our house!!!  Can you tell how excited I am?  In case you can't, I'm reeeeeeeally, really excited!!!!  Opie thinks we're moving in next week.  :o)  We told him it would still be a bit longer, but move in is definitely getting closer.

Rocket and I are looking for the "Kitties" down in the yard. :o)

Strangers

Dress: Gift from Big Sis
Lace blouse: Ross
Belt: Local
Cameo Ring: New Orleans
Freshwater Pearl Earrings: Dallas
Petticoat: Self Made

I wore this to church, then out to eat, a little bit of shopping, and to the movie theatre.  EVERYWHERE I received compliments from strangers.  Well, I did know the people at church. :o)

Anyways, you know an outfit is good when someone stoppes you on the street.  They don't know you, they don't HAVE to speak to you.  For this reason, if I see someone and think, "Wow, I like her hair," or "What pretty nail polish, or "That person has such a nice smile,"  I make the effort to tell them so.  I once followed a woman around the grocery store so I could "bump into her" and tell her how pretty her smile was.  I made her so happy.  If I were a betting man (as the saying goes), I'd bet she smiled a whole lot more that day. :o)

So, Thank you Big Sis for the beautiful dress!!!

PS:  I woke up the ants living in that stump!  That's what I'm pointing at.

Cityscape

Necklace and Earrings: Burk's Outlet
Bangles: Thrifted
Vintage Jacket: Thrifted
Dress: Macy's
Skirt: JCPenny
Yellow Tights: Hue via Dillard's
Frye Boots: DSW

I took off my coat and scarf for the photos, brrr it was cold!  In fact, that's why the photos aren't the best, we snapped a couple then ran for the warm indoors. :o)

If I had been wearing dark tights, I would've worn the dress as it.  With the yellow tights it really showed off how short it was so I layered a skirt for modesty.  This was worn to church after all. :o)

Doctor Who 50th Anniversary

Tardis Socks: Hot Topic

This outfit was completely built around the socks!  I just had to wear them for The Doctor's 50th Anniversary today, and they HAD to be visible!  No way was I wearing these babies under jeans where only I would know of their awesome existence!  I have to say, I felt GREAT in this outfit.  Just great.  I was comfortable, I felt like I was presenting a good representation of "Me" in my appearance, and (bonus) felt pretty dang sexy. :o)

Side note:  I do not feel comfortable in an outfit that is not "Me".

Allons-y Alonzo (Whovians will get that)  :o)

Lofty Aspirations

Vintage Collar Necklace: Antique Shop
Pinecone Necklace: Auction
Acorn Necklace: Swiped from Mom
Deer Leather Cuff: Renaissance Festival
Black Leather Bracelet: Colorado
Ceramic Watch: TJMaxx
Turquoise Ring: Grandmother's
Onyx Ring: Had since childhood
Vintage Dress: Thrifted
Leather Belt: Thrifted
Boots: TJMaxx

It might just look like I'm standing in the doorway of my porch, but I'm actually in the second story of the house we're building.  It took me a few minutes to work up the nerve to stand in that open door to a straight drop.  Now sitting in the doorway with my legs hanging out was no problem, go figure. :o)   One day a balcony will be there, but for now it made for a fun photo.

This is what I wore two Sundays ago.  I went out of town this last weekend.  The week leading up to our mini trip was crazy busy so that's why I'm just now posting!  I am so blessed to have such a busy life full of adventures!

Let me explain the last photo...I kissed Hubby after he took my photos.  He knew he now had Orange lipstick on his lips, so he grinned and planted one on my cheek.  I had the camera in my hands so I snapped a selfie...it's a moment I want to remember.  I don't print most of my blog photos, but this one will be printed. :o)

The Force is Strong with this Family

Got permission to include Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker...
I made Leia's dress from 2 XL white tshirts, Her mom made her belt with a cereal box and chrome duck tape, I made her buns with brown fabric attached to a headband.  For Luke all I had to do was cut an XL youth tshirt down the middle then angle around the neck, he's wearing a leather belt, grey pants, and black rubber boots.  I wish you could see the action shots him mom took of him!

She-3PO (Me):
Gold spray in my hair: Walmart
Gold Mineral Powder made into a cream with water on my face
Black Eyeliner crayon on my face: Ulta
Gold Hoops: Gift from Hubby
Gold Sweater and Jeans: Khol's (super clearance)
Gold Wedges: Dillards (clearance, old)

Ewok (Opie):
Hood: Self made
Furry Gloves and Socks: DIY
Sling Shot: Made by Hubby
Spear: Made by me
Horn: In-Laws brought back from Israel

Shirt and Pants: From his drawer :o)

R2D2 (Baby):
Hat and Shirt: Painted by me

Wookie (Hubby):
Brown Shirt, Pants, and Boots: His closet
Duck Tape Bandolier: Brown and Chrome Duck tape stuck right to his shirt :o)
Crossbow: Borrowed from Opie

I had so much fun putting our costumes together.  Opie's Ewok costume was a change in plans.  Originally he was going to be Darth Vader, but after a boy at church asked the Children's Church Director if he could be a scary looking bad guy she asked the kids to please pick "good guys".  She later told me that Darth Vader wasn't scary and she thought it was fine if we still went with that, but I'm one of the teachers and thought we should follow the rules.  So Ewok it was and we were both happy with how it turned out. :o)

I also helped my friend with her daughter's Princess Leia costume and Luke Skywalker costume.  I forgot to get permission to post them on here, so maybe later I'll ask if I can add them.  Her littlest was going to be Yoda until he saw a picture of the costume and said, "No way!" :o)

I decided I was the Halloween Elf this year.  I put together our costumes, helped with my friend's two costumes, helped my Mom with her shirt for her costume, and helped my Mother-in-Law with her hair and added some lettering to her apron.

Guess what!  It took THREE tries to get all that gold makeup scrubbed off my face!!!

Fall for Cotton

Butterfly Earrings: Butterfly Garden when Hubby proposed
Butterfly Necklace: 18th birthday gift from Hubby - we were only dating then :o)
Ruby Brooch: Gift from Grandmother
Butterfly Ring: Gift from Hubby the day our first Son was born
Shawl: Crocheted by Hubby's Grandmother
Dress: Self Made (Butterick 5708)
Petticoat: Self Made
Vintage Green Snakeskin heels: Gift from Little Sister

This dress is the result of participating in my first ever sew along.  Lucky Lucille and Tasha hosted Fall for Cotton.  I knew just what I wanted to sew.  I have had this Fall cotton for ages!  Every year when Fall rolled around I'd say, "I'm going to use that gorgeous fabric THIS year!"  Well this was just the kick in the pants I needed to finally get to it.

I gave Hubby a big Thank You hug and kiss after this photo shoot.  As we were pulling into our drive I said how I liked the fluffy weeds grasses for my photos.  Hubby said he liked the gnarled old tree.  I said, "You're not going to be able to get that in there!"  He said, "I take that challenge!"

He succeeded!!!  These may be my favorite blog photos yet.

Balance

Ruby Ring and Earrings: Gifts from Hubby
Cha-Cha Ring: DIY
Scarf: Gift from a Friend
Dress: Khol's
Tights: TJMaxx
Vintage Heels: Thrifted
Suede Purse: Thrifted
Hair Clasp: Kolache Festival

On the way to our friend's house for lunch, I asked Hubby to keep his eyes open for a good spot to stop and take some outfit pictures.  They have a double pond on their property, so that's what I was thinking would be nice when Hubby starts pulling the car over before we even get to their gate.  I looked up a little confused, then realized he was looking at the train tracks.  "Oooo, fun," I said, then proceeded to try to break my ankles balancing on the rails.  Slick bottom heels and slick tracks are not a great mix, but you better believe I was gonna get at least one successful shot.

PS:  I have a "hair appointment" with my sister this weekend. :o)

Light Fall Layers

Vintage Umbrella: Antique Shop
Ceramic Watch: TJMaxx
Silver Ring: ???
Suede Purse: Thrifted
Lace Shawl/Pancho: Gift from a Friend
White Dress: TJMaxx or Ross???
Heart Tights: Target
Purple Suede Wedges: Dillards (clearance)

These layers were perfect for our only slightly Fall weather.

Hubby and I went on a Date Saturday night.  Woohoo!  I had cash burning a hole in my pocket, so of course he took me to TJMaxx.  I needed a wallet (I found an orange one) which just happened to be by the jewelry counter.  I have wanted a white ceramic watch for a while now.  I have been watching a particular one for it to go on sale (hehe, "Watching a Watch", I crack myself up).  So far it's still not on sale.  I started looking at other options a couple months ago and this was my lucky day!  This one was a 6th of the price of the one I had my eye on!

My sister, aka my hairdresser, saw me Saturday afternoon and declared me to be in need of her skills.  Pretty hair colors have been purchased and a new look awaits!  Until she gets me fixed up, we're calling my current look "Ombre".  Funny thing is a lady stopped me at church to tell me how much she liked my hair.  Anyone else ever get a hair compliment just when you're thinking it doesn't look its best?  It's happened to me quite a lot.

PS: The kittens seemed to like my Purple shoes! :o)
