Full Outfit of Grandma's Clothes

 The hat, blouse,belt, and skirt all came from my Grandmother. (I had the butterfly scarf hanging on that branch wrapped around me part of the time due to the Spring Chill.)  On the way to church I told Hubby that I remember going to Mass with Grandma and her wearing this very blouse. *sigh* I love wearing her clothes.  And I miss her so.  Her skirt is a dream to wear.  It is wonderfully fitted through the waist and hips, then those deep pleats all around make it swish beautifully with every step!  And the hat!  Oh gosh, it might be my new favorite!  I have always looooooved big hats.  They do make it interesting getting in and out of cars, and hugging people requires a tilt of the head.  There is a widowed gentleman that I kiss on the cheek every Sunday, this morning I told him that I couldn't since our hats would clash.  He quickly whipped off his cowboy hat! :o)

And now for more of a "real" blog post. :o)  We actually got out the camera after church for this outfit!  As fun as phone pics are, my camera captures details much better.  Still not perfect photos, but once again, if we wait for perfection it will never happen.

February Happenings

In spite of being the shortest month, February has been jam packed full of fun!  As much as I would love to have perfect, professional photos to share with you, I don't.  I do have evidence through phone pics though!  If I wait on the perfect photos, there will never be another post.  This is real life after all, so this is me being real.  Hope you enjoy a raw organic taste of me! :o)

I colored my bangs a lovely eggplant-y purple.  I REALLY love it, waaaaay more than I even thought I would!

A casual, leading up to Valentines look.  The tee is Blue Bell! :o)  The skirt is one of my Grandmother's, it's silk and designer, and I might be wearing it backwards!!!  The back (front???) has the checks pleated out into stripes with snaps going down the middle.  There is no tag to clue me in on what is the front, and the horizontal stripes actually looked better across my butt vs my tummy.

 

I refashioned a romantic tee as a gift for my older sister.  I wish I had a picture of her wearing it, but that's on her phone, not mine.  Grrr!

 

Another casual, leading up to Valentines Day look.  Our weather has crazy mood swings, so yeah I went from short sleeves to layers and furry boots.  The cardigan was another Grandmother's, I only have a couple of things from her.  The stripe tunic is thrifted.  The velvet legging are Target clearance from last year.  The jellyfish earrings are a gift from my boys. :o)  The furry boots came from Amazon.

More flowers for yet another leading up to Valentine's Day outfit.  I wore this to my little niece's 2nd birthday party, then shopping after.  I just thrifted the silk 90's bomber cardigan.  The striped shirt is Target clearance.  The hat is vintage from a flea market.  The furry coat is thrifted vintage, I love how the suede side panels reduce bulkiness.  My jeans are actually gold.  My boots are a Christmas gift from Hubby.

I refashioned a plain pair of sweats into snazzy joggers for my oldest.  He loves the double pocket, too bad you can't see the details.  The youngest is still waiting on a pair...probably won't happen until next Winter! :o)

I made a new tee out of cute bird fabric that I bought for myself LAST Spring.  Took me long enough!  I made up for the delay by wearing it three days in a row, styled different each day of course!

 

I quilted a heart earring for my little sister.  She has two piercings on one ear, and three on the other, and doesn't wear matching earrings.  So yeah, just the one was made. :o)  I really love this picture of her!

 

So then we finally got to celebrate Valentine's Day!  I wore this gorgeous, silk, Chanel, jumpsuit of my Grandmother's, complete with matching scarf on my head.  I had a closeup of the print, but my phone ate it!

And a nice clear pic of the 1930s Jade ring Hubby gave me for Valentine's!  I squealed when I opened the box!!!

So there you are, a very imperfect blog post.  Which is pretty perfect for imperfect me. :o)

I spied this dress at Macy's back in the Summer.  I was VERY tempted to pay full price for it that day due to the ah-mazing full, full skirt, but I resisted.  Fast forward to this Fall and I happened to remember it and went to see if it had made it to the clearance rack.  It had!  For 70% off, Woohoo!!!  No matter that it was meant to be a Summer dress, the colors are perfect and cotton works great for our not always cool Texas Fall weather.

On Labor Day Grandpa invited the daughters and granddaughters to come up and go through Grandma's clothes.  It has been three years since her passing.  It was still hard, but we were all happy to get to take a little bit of her home.  My Grandmother is my style icon forever and always!  She did some modeling when she was young and always dressed and walked like she had just stepped off of a photo shoot.  I am picturing her right now with a golden yellow silk scarf wrapped around her dark curled hair and draping off her shoulders, it was Easter Sunday.  That is my Grandma Janell.  Her closet was always my favorite room in her house.  I would sit on the floor and look at all the designer clothes and just dream.  When I arrived on Labor Day, I hurried up to her closet to sit and dream one last time before anyone else came upstairs.

It's that time again...the end of Summer.  That's when I feel like this dress is most appropriate.  It is for sure a Summer dress, but is full of the Fall colors I'm always craving by now.  Perfect for hanging out on my in progress patio with a cold drink.  Who am I kidding?  It's still too hot here to be out on any patio in the middle of the day!  Right now I just stand at my back door and look out longing for cooler temps so I can relax out there with a book or magazine.  I have plans for a fire pit that I know will be wonderful when Fall arrives!

After lunch last Sunday, I took the boys for a stroll down the jogging trails behind the restaurant while we waited for everyone else to finish eating.  The little guy was getting more than a little antsy and needed to burn off some energy.  We managed to snap a couple of cellphone pics along the way.

This Zebra top was found on a day of thrifting with my niece in Tennessee.  She was across the store and held it up for me to see.  I probably scared everybody when I screamed and ran towards her with my arms stretched out saying, "Is it mine? Tell me it's mine! IT'S MINE!!"  So here's the deal, we both like the same clothes and thrifting together can be a bit of a race, but we try to be nice and find things for each other too.  She was being nice. :o)
