I like vintage looks. I have a tacky gene that loves to mix prints. I have fun trying new things with my hair. I'm a bargain hunter and hardly ever buy an item full price. I love to sew, and feel pleased as punch when I wear something of my own design.

Memorial Day
Fedora: Ross
Sunglasses: Burk's Outlet
Belt: Thrifted
Dress: Self Made
Flip Flops: Academy
We spent a wonderfully relaxing Memorial Weekend at the lake. I never made it into the water, but the boys did. :o)
I found out when I got home that if I HAD gotten in the water, I probably would have lost my swim top...it is waaay too big from last year! I am now working on a "new" swimsuit refashion so I'll be able to hit the pool next week. Maybe a swimsuit post is in my future. :o)
Has anyone else done a swimsuit post? Where you nervous about it?
JJ
PS: I know my flip flops are not very stylish, but hey we were at the lake after all. :o)

Porky the Prize Pig
Spike Necklace, Bracelets, Seashell Ring, Sunglasses: Burke's Outlet
Beaded Necklace: Gift from Mom
Earrings: Gift from Friend
Vintage top: Thrifted
Orange (P)leather Skirt: Dillards (clearance)
Shoes: DSW (clearance)
I won this pig at our town's Opry the night before in quite a round about way. The winning ticket belonged to friends who were leaving early, so they gave it (and two more) to another friend. That friend then passed them to another friend along with his ticket. The friend he passed the tickets to had to serve food during intermission (we work the concession), so she gave the tickets to me to hold as the numbers were called out. The very last numbers called were for this pig, and it got to come home with me! Can you tell how much my boys love it? Added bonus, it goes great with my Pink Pig watering can. :o)
I wore this to the church my son goes to school at, for a program he was part of. After that, we drove to our church so I could participate in practice (I sing with the church band). Hubby told me later that it was a good thing I wasn't on stage Sunday morning, as the next time I wear this skirt I will need my trusty sport shorts under it. I never thought about the height of the stage giving the audience a better view of my legs. :o)
Have you ever worn something completely unaware you were giving the world an eye full?
JJ
PS: Opie, my almost 8 year old took most of these pictures. (Hubby took the close up with me wearing the sunglasses.) He wanted me to snap this picture of him. :o)

Hawaiian MuuMuu
Earrings, Seashell Ring, and Yellow stretch bracelets: Burk's Outlet
Necklace: DIY
Bangles: Thrifted
Vintage Hawaiian MuuMuu: Thrifted and shortened
Gianni Bini Heels: Dillards (clearance)
I usually wear this dress belted, but I wanted to wear the higher heels so I skipped the belt. I felt with the extra height, it might look a little "indecent" to also belt it. The belt would bring the hem up a little bit more. I was wearing this to church after all. :o)
I also wore sports shorts underneath just in case. I have a toddler, so "just in case" translates to "highly likely"!
JJ
PS: I find the photo with my arms crossed to be quite comical. Am I showing off my bracelets? Too cool for school? Gangstah? Hurt my arm? Saying the Pledge of Allegiance? Giving myself a hug? :o)

Sew for Victory: Table Cloth + Sheet = Skirt & Blouse
I'm joining in at the last possible moment in Sew for Victory! I wouldn't have been able to, but Rochelle extended the deadline. Yay!!!
So in a couple of hours this afternoon, I took a tablecloth and sheet and turned them into what you see here. Quite in the spirit of "Make do and Mend". :o)
The skirt was super, super easy!!! As you can see in the before picture, it was already hemmed and trimmed. I simply cut out a circle waist and stitched in a gold elastic waistband. I'm wearing my Yellow Tulle skirt (seen Here and Here) as a petticoat.
The top was almost as easy. I used the top band of the sheet for the bottom hem of my blouse. I cut the facings out of the circle bit I removed from my tablecloth/skirt. No one can see them, but I like knowing they coordinate. :o) The top is Simplicity 1692 view D. I omitted the darts at the waist and put slits in the side seams.
The ring I'm wearing is a piece of Trench Art brought home by Hubby's Grandfather from WWII!

Wearing Sunshine: Yellow Tulle Skirt Round Two
Vintage "Pearl" necklace, Blouse, and Bangles: Thrifted
Orange spike necklace and Seashell ring: Burk's Outlet
Skirt: Self Made
Shoes: Dillards (clearance)
Purse: Gift from Hubby
Toenail polish: O.P.I. in Pewter
I'm pretty sure I liked this outfit even better than Easter's round one!
Let's talk about the polish on my toenails. I have been waiting on this polish for about a month. My sister kept forgetting to order it, but she finally got it to me Easter weekend. Then someone thought it was hers and put it in her bag when she went home, so I had to wait ANOTHER week to get it!!! It was worth the wait though. :o)
If you're wondering why I'm wearing the oh so fashionable wrist brace, I think I pulled something working in the garden. I think I got a little too vigorous attacking those pesky weeds with a hoe. :o) I have been wearing it for a week and it seems to be better. It still hurts a little, but the brace itself was starting to bruise me, so it's now off. I'm trying to be careful in using that arm. Of course, I'm right handed and want to grab/do everything with that hand and put more strain on it! Grrrr! But hey, it's on the mend, so there. :o)
Hope y'all weren't too bored seeing the same skirt twice in a row.
JJ
