I like vintage looks. I have a tacky gene that loves to mix prints. I have fun trying new things with my hair. I'm a bargain hunter and hardly ever buy an item full price. I love to sew, and feel pleased as punch when I wear something of my own design.

First Day of Fall
Pine cone Necklace: Auction
Acorn Necklace: Swiped from Mom
Butterfly and Floral Ring: Gift from Brother
Red Leather Belt: Wall's Outlet
Silk Blouse: Thrifted
Velvet Skirt: Thrifted
Gianni Bini Heels: Dillards (clearance)
News flash...the first day of Fall was last Sunday. Yeah I know, I'm a bit late, especially in this instant day and age! Whatever. The weather cooperated (it was a miracle) with the calendar. We had a crisp Fall day by our standards. I was so excited to be able to wear this velvet skirt so early! And yeah I just had to throw on the pine cone and acorn necklaces. :o)
Forest Gump says, "Life is like a box of Chocolates." I say, "Life is like Texas Weather, you never know what you're gonna get."
Alright, so I sense you wondering about the ma-hoo-sive rock I'm standing on. Hubby dug it up out of the middle of our driveway...with a shovel. And moved it to it's current resting place all by his manly self! Oops, getting distracted... :o)
So this rock stuck up in the drive about the size of a shoebox. A weird shaped shoebox for sure. Every time we backed out we would bump-bump over that dang rock. Then we would worry that it wasn't the rock, but one of our cats didn't get out of the way! So we'd stop, get out, look under with fingers crossed and be half irritated, half relieved to see that rock. Hubby couldn't take it anymore and started digging, and digging, and digging. And now I have a new prop for blog photos! :o)

Paisley Perfection
Hat: DIY
Rose Earrings: Maternal Great Grandmother's
Red Beads: Paternal Great Grandmother's
Ruby Ring: Gift from Hubby
Belt: Local Leather Shop
Vintage Dress: Thrifted
Petticoat: Self Made
Purple Suede Heels: Dillards (clearance)
This dress cost a whole $0.15, yes you read that right, 15 cents!!! It was bag day at the local thrift shop. Oh yeah! Whatever I could stuff in, even sticking out the top, for $3.
I snatched this dress up thinking I would refashion it. Imagine my surprise when I got home and it fit and looked great as it I hadn't checked the size or even held it up to my body at the shop!
Alright, my hat, this was its maiden voyage. I "made" it a year ago, but had yet to find the right outfit to wear it with. It was a "bow" on top of my birthday present last year. I told the friend it came from that it was going to become a hat. She said, "I thought you might do something like that with it." :o) Yes, my friends know me well.
I really wanted to do a twirl or two, but we were taking these photos on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant we ate at after church. Oh, and said restaurant is downtown. :o)

Kolache Festival
Straw Fedora: Ross
Heart Watch Necklace: Gift from Friend
Bullet Charm (added to heart): Kolache Festival
Plaid Button Front Blouse: Thrifted
Skirt: Marshall's
Croc's Sandals: Croc's Outlet
Zebra Bag: Rice came in it
We braved the heat and went out to the Kolache Festival, WooHoo!!! Yes, I am Czech. :o) Did I buy/eat any Kolache? Well no actually, I just had some the day before...and I also baked some the week before with my sister. So yeah, no need to stand in line for a Kolach that may or may not be as good as my Great Grandmother's.
We were there with my Mom, and my Brother and Future S-I-L met us there.
The music was fun, the vendors had great wares, and we saw some beautiful costumes. Get a load of the Polka King's embroidered pants there. He has roses on his fly! :o)
The kids were good (what else could I ask for???).
I took a ton of pictures at the car show, but with my phone (camera card was full)...sorry. Really those pics were for Hubby anyway since he had to stay home.
Hope you got out and did something fun this weekend (it's not too late...go, go, go). :o)

Sautumn
Watch and Pearl Ring: Gifts from Hubby
Polished Rocks Bracelet: Gift from Big Sis
Sparkle Bracelet: Gift from M-I-L
Belt: Thrifted
Vintage Dress: Thrifted and Refashioned
Mustard Skirt (worn as a hem extender): JcPenny (clearance)
Vintage Snakeskin Heels: Gift from Lil Sis
So this outfit is ALMOST entirely Gifted and Thrifted...I'm on a roll!!!
I would talk about the Pearl ring, but I think I'll save that long story for a post of its own. :o)
Shoes, lets talk about shoes! I was doing a yard sale with my Lil Sis last weekend. Naturally we had to look through each other's
Ok, if I hadn't felt the need to extend my hem by an inch or so, this outfit would have been ENTIRELY G&T. But hey, that one little item was a clearance item, so does it really count? :o) I have worn this dress without a skirt or tights underneath (I'm the one that shortened it right were I wanted it after all), but that was before baby #2 came along. Until I am no longer chasing him around and wagging him on my hip, I will not feel comfortable without a little extra coverage.
I almost forgot! Sautumn. This is my "still feels like Summer even though it is Autumn" dress. The Vintage Hawaiian MuuMuu is covered with beach-y words in Fall colors...Sautumn for sure. :o)

In The Navy
Hoops, Bracelets, and Rings: Gifts from Hubby
Dress, Belt, and Heels: Gifts from Mom
Wow, I just realized I am wearing an all "Gifted" outfit!
I have been searching for Navy heels FOR.EV.ER! Mom asked if I'd like to go Birthday shopping, I of course said, "Yes!" :o) I tried an a couple of cute shoes. I cried a bit over a really cute pair a half size too small. Then I found them. The perfect Navy pumps. The heel is not too high, the T strap is darling, they are suede, and they have PEEP TOES!
Ok, so we couldn't just walk out of the store after only browsing through the shoes! I found bunches of stuff to try on. So much so that my future Sister-in-Law had to take in half of the clothes for me in the dressing room. She didn't even have ONE THING to try on. She handed me the stack of clothes after we got our garment numbers and sat patiently in the empty stall beside me. (I hesitated to type "stall", it made it sound like a public restroom, but that's what they are. Right?)
When I showed Mom this dress, she said, "Sold!" When I told her that I really needed the shoes more than the dress, she matter of factly informed me she was buying BOTH! :o)
This morning my 7 year old gifted me a Lego watch. I may or may not wear it every.single.day! :o)
Hurray for Birthday Gifts!
JJ
PS: Yes, the cute little photo bomber is holding a toothbrush. It's not even his, he swiped his brother's before coming out!
PS(again): His outfit was a gift from my Mom too!!!! I am so Blessed. :o)
